When the person has a small amount of platelets, which is abnormal for the condition of a healthy person, he suffers from thrombocytopenia. Sometimes the person does not have symptoms of myelodysplasia at all or they can involve bruising, bleeding in the gums, mouth and nose and rash.
Medical examination is necessary during which the patient has to answer the questions concerning symptoms. The doctor should study the medical history. The patient passes complete blood count test, PTT and PT blood clotting studies. The doctor also appoints biopsy and a test for platelet-associated antibodies to determine if antibodies are not directed against your platelets.
Much depends upon the diagnosis and the cause of the condition (myelodysplasia). The goal of the doctors is to stop the bleeding and to thwart it. Therefore the transfusion can be appointed.
The condition of the patient is also important as far as the outcome of treatment is concerned.
It must be noted that myelodysplasia is risky and hemorrhage that can complicate the condition of the patient can bring to undesirable consequences. When the patient has bleeding in the brain or it occurs in the gastrointestinal tract then it can bring to lethal outcome. Under the circumstances the right treatment will determine the outcome of the disease.
